Minor League Notes

Some prospect info from Chad Jennings:
  • Relievers Mark Melancon and J. Brent Cox are expected to be ready by the start of spring training after undergoing mid-season elbow surgery. They will most likely start the year in Tampa (to avoid the cold weather up north), but could both help the Major League bullpen at some point this year.
  • Humberto Sanchez (TJ surgery) will not be ready for spring training, but is not that far behind the two previously mentioned.
  • Cuban defector Juan Miranda will start the season at AAA. He will share the 1B/DH role with Eric Duncan
  • The Yankees signed our old friend Nick Green to a minor league deal. They also signed Darrell Rasner. They are also working on a deal with Bronson Sardinha.
  • I found this kind of funny: I was watching ESPNEWS and they had Joe Sheehan of Baseball Prospectus on, and he said that Tyler Clippard could be the Nationals opening day starter.
  • On a side note, A-Rod has opened an education center.
