Morgan Ensberg

I hadn't thought of this, but this article over at noMaas interested me.
Morgan Ensberg: Career 116 OPS+, draws BBs, and sees lots of pitches; averaging 3.92 per plate appearance over his career. That #P/PA rate is better than the career rates of Johnny Damon, Jorge Posada, and Derek Jeter. Ensberg had a poor 2007 season, but could be a great addition for the bench. Buy low.

The OPS is interesting. Ensberg's Career line: .265/.366/.476, .284 EqA. He is 32 years old. He could be a very valuable bench option at the corner infield positions. He could even start at first. I doubt the Yankees will pursue him though, because first is already crowded and there's this A-Rod guy over at third. He probably is a better option than Betemit or Shelley at first, but it seems stupid to have three first basemen. So unless one or both of those guys get traded, look for Ensberg to sign elswhere.
