Game 63: Royals at Yankees Recap

With second straight defeat of the Royals with Joba on the mound the Yankees move their record to one game over .500 and move into third place. Joba had a good outing besides that one hanging slider to Guillen. He went 4.1 innings, 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 3 runs, 1 BB, 1 HR and 78 pitches and 53 of them were strikes. Then came in Dan Geise and he twirled a gem pitching 2 and 2/3rds innings of hitless ball picking up his first major league win. Abreu and Giambi both belted home runs to give the Yankees the offense they needed to defeat the Royals 6-3.

Giambi hit 3 home runs in 4 games showing the Royals to "Respect his AUTHORITY".
