The season is over obviously and at this point is winning really a good thing?
The Yankees are tied with St. Louis for the 10th best record in baseball at the moment. Both have winning percentages of .532. At the end of the year all free agents are assigned rankings based on their performance the past two years. "Type A" free agents are the top tier free agents. C.C. Sabathia, Ben Sheets, A.J. Burnett, and Mark Texiera are all type A free agents. Teams that sign a type A free agent give up their first round pick to the team that lost the free agent.
The Yankees clearly need at least one Type A free agent next year. The teams with the 15 worst records in baseball don't have to give up their first round draft pick when they sign type A free agent. Can the Yankees drop that low? It at least gives us something to root for. :D
