Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is a complex topic, so is financial accounting software. But to figure them out, I attended a financial software seminar, titled Planning a State of the Art Financial Information System seminar, and now I am somewhat more knowledgeable than before the seminar.
For me the take away is this, financial software systems use new technology to achieve more business efficiencies for sure, but more so, can be used to align with company objectives, and even directly support revenue growth. This is a big deal for us bean counters, who are tired of being perceived as cost centers, and want to evolve from score keepers to business partners.
More on this ERP seminar after I have some time to digest the course materials a bit further.
