Yankees Bringing Back Milton

Former Yankee top prospect Eric Milton has resigned with the team on a minor league deal. As you know, Milton was sent to the Minnesota Twins, along with Christian Guzman for the namesake of this blog, THE Chuck Knoblauch. Milton is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is still six weeks from games, so apparently the Yankees are also making this move for next year. Milton hasn't thrown a full season since 2005 with the Reds, and has a career ERA+ of 93, but I guess its always good to have depth.

Pettitte, Knoblauch and Radomski Dropped From Witness List

Congress recently decided not to make accused steroid users/dealers Chuck Knoblauch, Andy Pettitte and Kirk Radomski testify before Congress, because all they would do is distract everyone from the Clemens vs McNamee fight to the death. Presumably, the two will be given their choice of weapon, and the last man standing wins. But seriously, it is believed that Pettitte asked out of testifying because he did not want to implicate Clemens publicly. Regardless, one of these two men is lying to Congress, and hopefully, the truth will come out, and then one of them will likely be tried for perjury.

Knoblauch Swindled by the Feds

The crafty Chuck Knoblauch was tracked down and by the Feds and will give his deposition on Friday. Andy Pettitte is booked for Wednesday also Roger Clemens will be interviewed on Feb. 5.

In other news The Captain held the fifth annual Derek Jeter Celebrity Golf Classic at the Avila Golf & Country Club in Tampa. The golf tournament included 26 foursomes and more than 25 friends and fellow celebrities such as Jorge Posada, Don Zimmer, Tino Martinez, Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey Jr., Morgan Freeman, Greg Anthony, Allan Houston, Annika Sorenstam, and Natalie Gulbis.

D.J. had this to say

"It means a lot to have so many different people come out and give their support," said Jeter, who took ceremonial putts with each foursome as they made their way through the 17th hole. "It's pretty special to have all these celebrities take the time out of their busy schedules to come out here and show that they care."

Three Bits of News

I don't have a lot of time, so I'll mention these briefly:

I'll try to get a longer post in later if I have the time.

Chuck Knoblauch Subpoenaed

Former Yankee and blog namesake Chuck Knoblauch has been subpoenaed by congress to give a deposition. So when congress invited Knoblauch to give deposition, that meant, of course, that he was invited to give deposition, unless he declined the invitation, in which case he would be forced to give deposition. Thank god for guys like Chuck. Congress must have been getting so bored with Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, etc., etc., etc.

Chuck Knoblauch Has Nothing to Hide

Chuck Knoblauch spoke today for the first time since being named in the Mitchell Report. He said, "I have nothing to defend, I have nothing to hide at the same time." Chuck will appear before Congress next month along with Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte, and hopefully will tell them the same thing.

Clemens' Hearing Pushed Back

The congressional hearing on Steroids featuring Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and others has been postponed for almost a month. Apparently, it is to give Congress time to collect more evidence. This is pretty insignificant, and the whole Clemens story has been beaten to death, but I felt I should at least mention it.

Why Can't They Just Leave Chuck Knoblauch Alone?

The witch hunt continues: First MLB went after Chuck Knoblauch, now it's Congress. Knoblauch has been called to testify before Congress, regarding his inclusion in the Mitchell Report. Other less significant players also asked to testify are Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte, along with Brian McNamee and Kirk Radomski. Why is everyone so jealous of Chuck's raw skill? MLB and Congress just need to accept the fact that certain people (like Chuck and Joba) are naturally gifted and do not need steroids.

As an aside, Shane Spencer has been named hitting coach of the Padres A-ball affiliate.

Knoblauch's First Year On HOF Ballot Apporaching

Chuck Knoblauch, the fundamental fielder that Yankee fans loved in the glory years of '98, '99 and 2000 is getting his first crack of the ballot. Of course it is not probable that he will be accepted but hey, you never know.

George Mitchell is a LIAR

I don't know if you heard about this, but the Mitchell report came out yesterday. The report can be found here. The report named a little more than eighty names, not of which more prominent than the MAN himself, Chuck Knoblauch. However, I would like to point out that this is all based off of hearsay, and is not at all true. George Mitchell is a member of the Red Sox board and only out Chuck in there because he is jealous of his superior throwing arm and slap-hitting ability.
Chuck in all his glory
