NOTES: Yankees picked up former Padre 1B/OF Chad Huffman off of waivers and he was sent to AAA. Chan Ho Park is "sick" so he will not be available tonight (good news). Joba is available but less likely to go according to Girardi:
“I’m not afraid for him to go back-to-back at this point, but I’m not real comfortable – depending on how he feels – with him going three out of four days yet.”
It is going to be a hot 85 in Boston tonight. The difference in temperature in the 3 games is really unusual.

Don't Fuck With Dre Day

"That if you fuck with Dre nigga you're fuckin wit Death Row
And I ain't even slangin them thangs
I'm hollin' one-eight-seven with my dick in yo mouth, beeyatch"
The Sox had Dr. Dre on their side tonight. The Yankee bullpen noticed....and blew it. If you are wondering Dre and Lebron were there promoting a brand new pair of Beats headphones that would carry a Red Sox logo for an extra $100 ($400). The picture is of him after taking some batting practice after the game. I guess Veras saw it and got spooked. I am sure most of you saw the game; I will be posting more stuff about it during the off day tomorrow. There is so much baseball on ESPN tomorrow it will help fill the void left by this $5 whore of a game.

Baseball is Coming

It has been a long winter. Yankee fans have been graced with another World Championship but that has made me even more excited for the next season. The season kicks off this Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPN. The Notorious C.C. will take the hill for the Yanks and it will be interesting to see if he follows the trend of slow starts. For the past few years it takes C.C. a few weeks to get back into the swing of things. With the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry to start the season the fans are begging the big C to come out strong and shut down the Sox. Last year they owned for the first half of the year. I don't know if I can take that again.

Step On Their Throats

The Yankees have taken 3 out of 4 so far from the Sox in a crucial time in the season. The playoffs are looming and the Yankees have improved their lead in the division to a modest 5 and 1/2 games. The Yankees have been playing exceptional ball lately, winning 6 straight and now hold the best record in baseball.

We face the Red Sox again tonight for the final game in the series. Under the ESPN national spotlight it will be Jon Lester vs Andy Pettitte.

As for yesterday's game it was the best game that I have been to all year. C.C. pitched a gem and had killer stuff and we shut down the Sox.

Go To Hell Pap

"Oh, of course. I mean, I think if we can't come to an agreement on terms here in a Red Sox uniform, I mean I think that's pretty much the writing on the wall."

"Not only the Bronx, but anywhere. I think anywhere is a possibility. You always have to keep that in the back of your mind because you can't just be one-sided and think that, "Oh, I'm going to be in a Red Sox uniform my entire career" because nowadays that is very, very rare and hopefully we can because there's no question I would love to stay in a Boston Red Sox uniform but I have to do what's best for me and play in an atmosphere where I'm wanted."

Who says we want you here?

Breaking News: Manny Tests + For P.E.D.S

Major League Baseball is expected to announce Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games, The Los Angeles Times is reporting.

Ramirez's suspension is expected to be announced Thursday, The Times said.

Triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul has been told by the Dodgers that he will be promoted later today, according to The Times.

In his first full season as a Dodger, Ramirez is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs. Los Angeles has bolted to a 21-8 record -- best in the majors -- and a 13-0 record at home that set the modern major league record for home winning streak to start a season.
UPDATE: Yahoo says that Manny tested positive for a sexual enhancer. Manny did not test positive for a steroid or human growth hormone.

Comic: Red Sox Sweep

After a two long painful losses the Red Sox swept the series today in a 4-1 win over the bombers. In other the games the losses were mostly a product of the bullpen. Today however a lack of run support cost us the game. When Brett Gardner drives in your only run you know you're in trouble. The Red Sox had a big 5th inning and the Yankees could not answer. Pettitte pitched well and seemed to be the bearer of bad luck. 2 errors by Angel Berrora caused the 5th inning to unravel into a disaster. Cano's face says it all (right). The bottom line is that Yankees deserved to lose. With a grand total of 35 runners left on base in the series. It's the worst to be swept by Boston but we have to move on and focus on the upcoming series with the Tigers.

An interesting side note: Jeter tied Mickey Mantle for the Yankees record of 8,102 career at bats when he struck out in the 7th.

Tough Game

This was the toughest loss all year. The Yankees should have won this game you can blame it on anything; the blunders of Cano and Girardi are just examples. It seems that the Yankees shoul
d have put this game away innings ago. Burney was not seen in the bullpen and there are whisperings that he went back to New York for an MRI. Joba's start should be categorized. as "lucky", he was a wizard with the ground balls (right). It seems the Yankees just scraped by with Joba on the mound. Then the 'pen took over and we should have given them some cushion leaving 15 runners stranded. However we can still take 2/3 from the Sox and I am confident with A.J. taking the mound tomorrow. It will be hard to get the taste of today's hard loss out of our mouths.
Update 11:56: Pete Abe confirms that Burney has been sent back for an MRI. Also Wang was placed on the DL and so was Cody Ransom after a sliding injury (quad).

Wang: Missing Next Start

From RAB:
The Yankees have announced the rotation for the next four games, and Chien-Ming Wang is not in it. Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia will close out the Oakland series, and then A.J. Burnett, Joba and Pettitte will take on the Red Sox in Boston. The team has yet to announce what they plan on doing with Wang for the next week or so. I’m guessing he’ll work on the side and probably toss some live BP. The Yanks really need to work out his mechanical issues.

News and Notes

  • Cashman says that A-Rod is "doing well".
  • The Yankees also brought A-Hole, A-Fraud Rodriguez in for some serious "big boy" talk. Sounds like he got a stern talking to (AKA "ENOUGH WITH THE STRIPPERS!).
  • Ken Rosenthal says that Melky is on the market.
  • Former Yankee Johnny Blanchard passed away this morning, he was 76.
  • A long time writer, Arther Richman, who worked with both the Yankees and the Mets has died.
  • Andy Pettitte had a sucessful minor leauge outing today.
  • As another slap in the face to the royal fans who were reloacted (me), the Yankees are only allowing field level ticket holders to roam the field level concessions. No more will you be able to watch batting practice from field level either.
  • The trusty screen that caught that drunk kid in the old Yankee Stadium, has not been moved into the new one.

    Gerrit Cole Facebook Update #1

Since I am Gerrit Cole's facebook friend I can do whatever the hell I want. Whenever he puts something up that is questionable we will show it to you. Here is the first update:

This is Gerrit Cole's facebook profile picture. Maybe he would be happier if he signed with the Yankees.

And Here he is kissing a dude (not that there is anything wrong with that!)
These are real from Gerrit's facebook. No trickery involved.

    This Is It

    The standings
    AL East
    Rays 79-50
    Red Sox 75-55 -4.5
    Yankees 70-60 -9.5

    Wild card
    Red Sox 75-55
    Twins 74-57 -1.5
    Yankees 70-60 -5

This is the series that decides the season. There are only 32 games left and they are 5 behind. We need to win.

Hank The Tank said yesterday: “If we put on a run here, there’s no question we can make it,” Steinbrenner said yesterday in Tampa. “There’s no question with the number of games we have left, it’s possible.”

It's possible but improbable, to start that run we need to crush the Bo Sox
