Jonathan Papelbon is a Bumbling Idiot

Do you think that's a little harsh? I don't. Today he said he thinks he should close the all-star game.
“If I was managing the team, I would close. … But I’m not managing the team,”
This man clearly has no respect for, or knowledge of, the game of baseball. Mariano Rivera is the greatest closer of all time, and this is his stadium. Mo's ERA+ this year is 384, compared to Papelbon's 178. Mariano Rivera is the epitome of a closer, never losing his cool. His expression never changes, whether he just blew the World Series or won it. Papelbon is another story. >>>>>>

That was a Little Too Close!

I was at todays game and I have to say it got my blood a boiling. At least we got a win off of the Sox. While I was at the game I caught some pre-game footage of Joba throwing underhand to Edwar as a joke and I thought I would post it.

Papelbon is an Idiot

In the Bon's weekly interview with Comcast sports he said some pretty stupid things. One of my favorite quotes from the video is "My underwear is really raunchy and dirty and stinky. I got skidmarks everywhere on that." Intelligence at it's finest, the link to the video is below if you can stand the whole thing.

Curt Schilling Is An Asshole

On his blog, 38pitches, Curt Schilling called out Kobe Bryant today for yelling at his teammates during last night's Laker loss to the Celtics. Curt decided that all he needed was to see one game to say conclusively that Kobe Bryant, the best player since Micheal Jordan is a bad leader, because he got frustrated in a pretty bad loss in so far his biggest game of the year. Yeah I guess that's fair.

Farnsworth Suspended

Update: He shall appeal

Now maybe we can win a few.

The Daily News is reporting that the Farns will be suspended for three games for throwing a 96mph fastball behind the neck of Man-Ram.

I Love the Yankees

As most of you know there have been reports that a Red Sox t-shirt was buried in concrete below the new Yankee Stadium. No need to fear Yankee fans that team has acted on the situation and it is done. The Yankees unearthed the rag after five hours of digging. Hal had this to say "I hope his co-workers kick the [expletive] out of him".

Earlier this week, a construction worker who is a Red Sox fan working on the concrete crew at the $1.3 billion new Yankee Stadium buried a Red Sox shirt in with the concrete foundation, in the hopes of jinxing the New York Yankees' new home, the Post reported. The newspaper reported Sunday that two workers approached a construction manager with what they thought was the location of the jersey. After digging a two-foot by three-foot, the jersey was found. "They absolutely pinpointed that if it was in the ground, that's where it was," Yankees spokeswoman Alice McGillion told the newspaper. The Yankees may pursue a lawsuit against the worker.

More From The Scrappy Underdogs

From NoMaas:

A Boston Red Sox scout was arrested, accused of masturbating at the window of his hotel room in front of two women and two underage girls at the swimming pool, records show.

Jesse Levis, 39, faces two felony charges for committing lewd and lascivious acts in front of children under the age of 16.

According to an arrest report, the two girls, age 13 and 14, told police they had been swimming at the pool around 7 p.m. Sunday with their father when they saw Levis standing naked and masturbating at the window of his second-floor hotel room, which overlooks the pool.

The hotel manager, Ken Glass, told police a similar incident had happened last year, when Levis was checked into a room on the fourth floor overlooking the pool, the report said.

Wow. That is impressive.

Oh Thise Scrappy Underdogs

From this article:
A group of men — some with Irish accents — beat up a 23-year-old Cambridge man and sent him to the hospital after they spotted him sporting a Yankees baseball cap.

Sound like nice guys.

Schilling to Miss 2008?

Update 9:00 PM: According to MLBTR, Schilling has a partial rotator cuff tear. Boston's doctor advised rehab instead of surgery, and one of his own doctors advised him to have surgery. A third party advised rehab, so that is what Schilling will do. He will be out until at least the all-star break.

The Boston Herald reports that everyone's favorite douchebag Curt Schilling may have a serious shoulder injury, possibly as serious as a torn labrum or rotator cuff. If the injury requires surgery, Schilling will likely miss the 2008 season. He recently signed a one-year contract, and had a physical before signing it, and no injuries were found then. I know that you should never be happy about someone else being injured, but in this case, I can't help it. Schilling may lose his 2008 contract, and aside from how much this would hurt the Red Sox rotation, Curt Schilling is an asshole, so I guess this is just karma.

Curt Schilling Just Pisses Me Off (Mike Lupica Too)

Curt Schilling has an opinion on basically everything, and is not at all afraid to share them. It just so happens that I tend to disagree with all of them. Today, when nobody in particular asked him his opinion on Roger Clemens he had this to say:

If that is the case with Roger, the four Cy Youngs should go to the rightful winners, and the numbers should go away if he cannot refute the accusations.
(Source
ESPN)

First of all, who asked you Curt? Second of all, why? 1. There is no hard evidence condemning Clemens of steroid use 2. Was he not pitching against steroid users? 3. How do you know the runner-ups (Curt's "rightful winners") were not also steroid users? Because they weren't named by an alcoholic desperate to say out of jail? 4. Taking away the awards would just be wrong. You can't change history. Slavery happened, the holocaust happened, steroids happened. You can't change the past just because you don't like it.

To comment on this without any hard evidence and after Clemens denied it just shows Curt's excellence in the field of douchebaggary. Also, I am a firm believer that Curt Schilling is a steroid user, but that's another story.

Also, found this article by Mike Lupica. Basically, he is saying that if Clemens really didn't take steroids, he should tell his story to Congress. Does Mike Lupica think about what he is saying or does he just write and hope for the best? Don't you think Congress might have more important things to deal with, Mikey? Like, I don't know, the war, the general disapproval of our government, lead-ridden Chinese toys, a lying attorney general, Larry Craig, Iran, etc., etc., etc. No, actually, I see your point Mike. All of those things pale in comparison to Roger Clemens' alleged steroid use.
