Big Sexy to the Big Apple?

Now that Richie Sexson has been cut by the last place Mariners the Yankees are have internal discussions on weather to sign the big first baseman. His number this year were not exactly sparkling his season line is .218/.315/.381 but Big Sexy knows how to hit a home run with 11 on the season. I am all for signing him what have we really have to lose? Another one dimensional 1st baseman on the Yankees. I would rather have him up there than Chad Moeller who is playing today for the first time in a month or so, and Justin Christen.

News and Notes: Prospect Edition

Some info on Yankee prospects/draftees:
  • 17 year old Kevin DeLeon, the head of last year's international free agent class, made his debut last night for the DSL Yankees2. (That stands for Dominican Summer League, in which the Yankees have two teams). He went 1-3 with a walk and two steals, while batting cleanup.
  • 7th round pick, high school catcher Kyle Higashioka, says it will take $500,000 to sign. He is a good defensive catcher with some power projection, and most likely will be signed.
  • 2B David Adams, a 3rd rounder out of UVA, and SS Addison Maruszack, have both signed. They will probably go to Staten Island, and Maruszack may be converted to catcher.

Which Draftees Have Signed?

So the Yankees made 50 draft picks last Thursday and Friday, which have signed thus far? None. Okay, but which ones are close, or have said they want to sign? Here's the list:
6th round pick Brett Marshall, a Texas righty out of HS is close to signing
4th round pick Corban Joseph, a HS shortstop says he is ready to sign
3rd round pick David Adams, a second baseman out of UVA is also ready
2nd round pick Scott Bittle, a reliever out of Ole Miss wants to sign
11th round pick Raymond Kruml is a senior, so he has to sign
Zach Greinke's brother is willing to sign
10th round pick DJ Mitchell, a RHP from Clemson is willing to sign, but he wants more money than most 10th rounders get
8th round pick Daniel Brewer (CF) will sign
13th rounder Jack Rye is also a senior, so he'll sign
35th rounder Andrew Shive will sign
21st pick Mitch Delaney will also sign

I hope you are all thoroughly bored by that list.
